2020 is winding down, thank goodness!  We certainly don't want to wish away our precious time, but I think we will all be glad to be moving on to a new year.  How do you plan to make the most of the new year ahead?  Are you going to keep doing what you've always been doing, or are you ready to make this year something special?

My wellness program is a 6 week program designed to give you the tools to get you on the right path to a healthier lifestyle.  It incorporates all areas of your health: your nutrition, physical, and emotional health,  Meal  ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are provided.  We will also look at how to incorporate physical activity into your routine as well.  (I'm excited to say that I am almost finished with my personal trainer certification and I am excited to make that a larger part of my wellness program.)

Reach out to me for a complete list of all that is included in my 6 week program.  What are you waiting for?  Let 2021 be waaaayyyy better than 2020!  There is so much to look forward to!

What do you think of when you think of comfort foods? Ice cream, chocolate, mac and cheese, pizza?  We tend to gravitate towards those comfort foods when the weather turns colder and during times of stress. The link below highlights the psychology behind why we crave comfort foods and gives some healthier alternatives.  Remember to fuel your body with healthy nutrients, so you can be the best version of you!

What are your morning "go to" foods?  Do you eat in a hurry as you are rushing out the door.  Do you tend to grab a quick breakfast like a bagel, muffin, or some toast?  Sadly these choices aren't much different than grabbing a donut for breakfast.  They all quickly turn to sugar and leave you with a mid morning crash.  They also don't keep you satisfied for long, signaling your hunger hormone, ghrelin, that it's time to eat again.  Adding some protein and healthy fats to your breakfast will keep you satified longer and prevent that mid morning slump. (ps - the same can be said for the afternoon slump - have a snack that contains a little protein- nuts, seeds, hard boiled egg etc.)  To start your day off strong, steer clear of the processed bread products and add some protein to your meal.

* steel cut oats with nuts or hemp hearts, sliced banana adds some natural sweetness

*Eggs are always a great source of protein - throw in some veggies, (peppers, onions, spinach, kale etc) and a little cheese

*lean breakfast sausage with some sliced potatoes (cooked in olive, coconut, or avocado oil)

*Unsweetened greek or non dairy yogurt with fruit and walnuts

*Open faced egg sandwich (1 slice of toast) topped with a little salsa and avocado slices

Summer salads are a staple for me.  I love adding fresh fruit to my salads and experimenting with homemade dressings.  Add some avocado or nuts to your salads and they make for a satisfying meal.  Want extra protein? Add some beans, seeds, salmon, or chicken. Check out the reicipes bleow for some yummy summer salad reicpes.
