The health benefits of exercise span way beyond what most people think of as a means to lose weight. My main motivation to exercise is mental health. Not only do I feel a sense of stress relief and calmness, but I also know those things are actually happening physically within my body. My hormones are balancing, I'm able to sleep better at night, and I feel positive and more productive with more energy to do the things I need to do. So why aren't more people getting enough physical activity during the day? There are a number of reasons, but the biggest one I hear is the lack of time. You can reap huge health benefits by being active 30 minutes 3 or 4 times a week. The American Health association recommends 150 minutes of physical activity every week, but even being active several times a week has proven benefits. Don't know where to begin, start by walking. It costs nothing and there's no equipment required. Need more direction? I'm always here to help or join one of my virtual classes: Tuesdays at 10AM , Thursdays 7AM, Saturdays 8:30AM. Need to get to the heart of why you aren't taking better care of yourself or learn ways to facilitate that process? My 6 week Lifestyle Nourishment workshop can either be done individually or join one of my groups. We explore a variety of health topics while learning to have a positive mind, body, soul relationship. Reach out to me for more information or to get started. 914-443-8902 jbsouthard12@gmail.com

What's your plan for 2023? Making a plan and setting goals can be overwhelming, but it doesn't need to be. Goals need to be realistic and attainable. When we set extreme goals, we feel defeated early on, and that leads to negative self esteem, and the tendency to give up. When we set small goals that build over time, we feel a sense of achievement and encouragement to keep moving forward. If you have a resolution,a determination or intention, to feel better and be healthier in the new year, take that next step to making it a reality. There are lots of options available to help you achieve those goals. Click the About tab to see upcoming events and available packages, or reach out to me to design your own and get started! SO excited to share with you some new things that will be coming in the new year! I will be offering 2 different fitness classes online!! One will be a lighter 45 minute cardio weight training class, a light overall total body and cardio workout. The other is going to be a more intense 30 minute HIIT type class targeting specific areas each week. This class can be modified for different levels, so don't be discouraged by the word "intense". You will need your own weights for the classes and a stretchy band. It's not too early to start planning for the new year!! If you are interested in participating, I need your input. The light cardio and weights class is being offered through my job at The Chi Hive, so that class is always offered at 10:00am on Tuesday mornings and will be available to join in beginning tomorrow! The 30 minute HIIT class is still in the works and does not have a set time yet, although it will be an early bird special. Would you prefer a start time of 6, 6:30, 7? Tuesday or Thursday mornings or would a different day be better? Email or text me your preference. jbsouthard12@gmail.com 914-443-8902 If enough people are interested, we could offer class at 2 different times. I'm also going to be offering the Lifestyle Nourishment Workshop online as well! Stay tuned for more information.
Lifestyle Nourishment? Huh? What exactly does that mean? Are you caring for yourself in all areas of life? Are you caring for your mind, body, and soul? If not, why not? Whew! That was a lot of questions. Life can get hectic and overwhelming at times. Sometimes we aren't very good about taking care of any of those areas, and sometimes we are good about taking care of one or two, but in order to live life fully, we need to take care of all those aspects of our being. We are whole beings and we need to care for ourselves holistically. What are you doing each week for your mind, body, and soul? Need help creating the nurishing lifestyle you've always wanted? Reach out to me to being the journey.

We aren't meant to look like barbie dolls. Here are some barbie doll fun facts: if Barbie were an actual woman, she would be 5'9" tall, have a 39" bust, an 18" waist, 33" hips, and a size 3 shoe. She would be projected to weigh around 110 pounds and have a BMI of 16.24. In real life, this would make Barbie anorexic and certainly not healthy! We need to get out of the mindset that skinny is healthy. Of course being obese is most certainly NOT healthy, we need to view health in the bigger picture. Are you eating well most of the time? Are you exercising on a regualr basis? Do you take some time for yourself to do the things you love? Are you taking time to be still? Take some inventory, and think about some ways you can take better care of yourself and make it happen. Stop trying to be skinny and start working on being healthy! I'm always available if you need some help getting started.
